The City of Piqua wants residents, families, businesses and organizations to know that are a few areas around town that could use someone to adopt them. Through the Adopt Piqua Program residents and organizations will have a chance to help take care of some of the community’s most prized public places and receive recognition for their efforts.
The program is designed to meet two main objectives. First, the Adopt Piqua program will help stretch the city’s resources. If we can find groups that can help us keep public areas in good shape, we can stretch our dollars. Second, we hope that we can foster more civic pride and stewardship in our public areas. We know our residents will take more interest in these public areas if they take an active role in their maintenance and development.
Residents, families, businesses and organizations that participate can expect to not only be recognized for their efforts at public meetings, but these individuals can expect to have a special sign installed showing the area being adopted and who has adopted the area. This recognition portion of the program is very important. We have the opportunity to raise awareness of these civic minded individuals and groups while bringing positive attention to the program.
Residents and groups can sign up for the program by completing an on-line application below. Those with comments or questions are strongly encouraged to contact Brittany Van Horn at 937-778-2037 or via email.
