City of Piqua – Human Resources Director
The City of Piqua, Ohio, population 20,951, approximately 25 miles north of Dayton, Ohio is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Human Resources Director. The Human Resources Director reports directly to the City Manager and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team. The position is responsible for recruitment and selection, labor relations, workers’ compensation, training and development, discipline, classification and compensation adjustments, and benefits administration. The successful candidate will possess excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as superior leadership, collaboration, and team building skills. The selected candidate for this position will be a self-starter with an excellent work ethic, professional demeanor, and ability to build and maintain positive relationships. The selected candidate must also be able to maintain strict confidentiality and possess knowledge and skills related to human resource-related concepts, laws, and best practices. Ideally, the selected candidate will possess a balance of analytical, critical, and creative thinking skills. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and six (6) or more years of experience in public sector human resources and labor relations, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is desired as is certification in Human Resources. The City of Piqua, Ohio is seeking applicants for a summer internship. The intern(s) will assist with Stormwater and Drinking Water Protection Programs. Responsibilities will include completing a survey of ditches and waterways; reviewing construction plans for subdivision Stormwater facilities and field checking plans, and creation of a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan for the airport that meets Ohio EPA requirements. The successful applicant will have a high school diploma or GED and be currently enrolled in accredited college program with preferred course work in environmental sciences, biology, microbiology, chemistry or related field. Previous experience with ICI, QHEI, or both is a plus, in addition to knowledge of GIS Software Systems, a valid drivers’ license, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
