[ARCHIVED] Piqua Burn Building, a “Live Fire” Training Facility

Burn Building

Piqua, Ohio - The Piqua Fire Department in collaboration with Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is excited to announce the Burn Building, a new “Live Fire” training building for fire suppression evolutions incorporating search, rescue, and ventilation skills.

The final phases of construction at the City of Piqua’s Public Safety Training and Research Campus, located at the former water treatment plant site, are expected to be completed this week. The project is fully funded by a State Capital Grant secured in 2019. The grant was sponsored by Ohio State Senator, Stephen A. Huffman, who recognized the educational benefits the facility will bring to First Responders in the Region.

“Before the construction of the Burn Building, the Fire Department had to travel 50 minutes away to use a facility capable of live fire training drills,” Piqua Fire Chief, Brent Pohlschneider stated. “This building will allow world class training in a safe, efficient and controlled environment for a multitude of First Responders.”

BGSU will be able to conduct Fire Fighter certification training classes to Level I and Level II national standard firefighting capabilities at the new facility.
