[ARCHIVED] Neighborhoods invited to participate in National Night Out

2025 Pavement Program (2)

The City of Piqua is inviting neighborhoods throughout the community to participate in National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 5 to 8 p.m.

National Night Out, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Piqua Police Department, is an annual campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make communities safer and more caring places to live and work.

Hosting a block party during National Night Out is a great way to build a stronger community. Organizing a block party typically involves coordinating with neighbors, planning activities, and working with local authorities to ensure safety and compliance.

“I encourage all neighborhoods to host a block party—it's a fun way to get to know your neighbors and build a safer, more connected community,” Police Officer Chris Walters said.

Residents across the nation are encouraged to turn on their front porch lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and law enforcement. Many communities celebrate the event by hosting block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other community events that include safety demonstrations, youth activities, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits.

Individuals and organizations interested in hosting a block party in Piqua can contact Piqua Police Officer Chris Walters at 937-778-2027, ext. 3027.
