The City of Piqua Public Works Department will begin curbside leaf pile pickup Monday, October 20, weather permitting.

City crews operate two leaf machines to collect leaf piles placed along the curb. The leaf removal season will continue through late December or early January, depending on weather conditions.

Crews will make at least three passes through each district and use street sweepers to clear smaller debris along the curb. Residents can view updates of the crews’ progress through each maintenance district by viewing the City’s GIS page for Public Works activities.

As residents prepare leaves for pickup, the City offers the following guidelines and reminders:

  • No set collection dates: Leaf pick-up is determined by the weather and the amount of leaves on the ground.
  • Multiple passes: Crews will make several passes through each district, so don't worry if they haven’t reached your area yet.
  • Be proactive: Don’t wait until crews are in your district—move your leaves to the curb as they fall to ensure timely pick-up.
  • Clear the way: If possible, please move cars away from leaf piles to give crews easy access.
  • Yard waste restrictions: Please ensure no yard waste, sticks or brush are mixed in with leaves.
