The City of Piqua is seeking a full-time City Engineer. The position performs complex professional work overseeing the planning, design, construction, and inspection of engineering projects and infrastructure in the City. The position involves setting policies and goals under general direction; Communicating with consultants and other outside agencies to ensure projects are being kept on schedule; Processing permit applications; Performing plan reviews; Preparing and maintaining files and records; Preparing reports; and Managing the planning, design, construction, and inspection of public infrastructure projects in coordination with consultants and other outside agencies. Supervises engineering personnel; Assists in the selection process; Assigns, directs, trains, and inspects staff work; Disciplines, coaches, counsels and evaluates staff performance; Develops staff schedules.
Summary of Work Performed:
- Manages the planning, design, construction, and inspection of public infrastructure projects in coordination with consultants and other outside agencies.
- Supervises engineering personnel; Assists in the selection process; Assigns, directs, trains, and inspects staff work; Disciplines, coaches, counsels and evaluates staff performance; Develops staff schedules.
- Assists all City Departments with the engineering design and construction of related Capital Improvement Projects.
- Performs plan reviews for private developments to ensure stormwater and sidewalk/driveway code compliance.
- Prepares and submits grant applications for Capital Improvement Projects; Administers grant funding and monitors expenditures.
- Prepares bidding documents; Advertises, solicits, receives, and opens bids in accordance with City guidelines and state statutes.
- Prepares reports and presentations for City Commission, City Manager, and Planning Commission.
