Piqua City Manager, Gary Huff, has decided to stay in Piqua…
Huff announced late on Thursday, April 6 that he has withdrawn from the Ashland, Kentucky City Manager position and will be remaining in Piqua as the City Manager. Huff had accepted the Ashland job but had not signed a contract of employment.
“This really came down to a family decision to stay in Piqua,” Huff said. “Janet and I love it here and quite frankly reality set in that we would be leaving such a wonderful community.”
Huff stated that moving to Ashland would have put him closer to family members and many close friends, but it was the desire to continue to live and work in Piqua that ultimately made his decision to stay.
“We are ecstatic that City Manager Gary Huff is continuing with us in Piqua. We, as Piqua City Commissioners, support Gary’s decision full heartedly to stay with us here in Piqua,” said Piqua Mayor Kazy Hinds.
Former Piqua Mayor Lucy Fess hired Huff in October of 2011. Due to Huff’s expertise and vision a Quality Life can be found in Piqua. Huff will continue to oversee projects such as the new Water Treatment Plant, the Lock Nine Renaissance Park project, the Piqua Community Center Campus Plan, the Historic East Piqua Master Plan and many more.
“I am very appreciative that the Piqua City Commission allowed me to withdraw my resignation and continue as City Manager,” Huff stated. “I look forward to continuing efforts to fulfill the tremendous potential of Piqua as a Quality of Place and improving our overall Quality of Life.”
The City of Piqua is excited to continue on the path Huff has set in motion and look forward to future ventures under Huff’s leadership.
