The City of Piqua intends to apply to the Ohio Development Services Agency (ODSA) for funding under the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, a federally funded program administered by the State of Ohio. The City is eligible for approximately $2.6 million of Program Year (PY) 2017 CDBG funding, providing the City meets applicable program requirements. The first of two (or more) public hearings will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers at the Municipal Government Complex, 201 West Water Street, Piqua, Ohio to provide citizens with pertinent information about the CDBG Program including an explanation of eligible activities, program requirements and application deadlines. The CDBG Program can fund a broad range of activities, including economic development projects; street, water supply, drainage and sanitary sewer improvements; demolition of unsafe structures, rehabilitation of housing; public services; and improvements to neighborhood facilities. The activities must be designed to primarily benefit low and moderate income persons, aid in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight, or meet an urgent need of the community.

- New Horizons Fair Housing Program $ 15,000
- Discretionary Grant Program $ 500,000
The primary focus of this first public hearing is to inform citizens about the City of Piqua’s PY 2017 Community Development Allocation Program, Community Housing and Impact Preservation Program, and Downtown Revitalization Program. A second public hearing will be held at a future announced date prior to the City’s submittal of grant applications for the CDBG Community Development Allocation Program and any other Programs for which the City may apply. The tentative State application deadline for the Community Development Allocation Program, Critical Infrastructure Program, and Downtown Revitalization Program is June 16, 2017. The tentative State CHIP application deadline is May 5, 2017.
Citizens are encouraged to attend this public hearing on Thursday, February 2, 2017 to provide their input on the City’s CDBG Programs.
