City of Piqua Removing Trees per Ohio Department of Natural Resources Request

Posted on: January 9th, 2020 No Comments

The City of Piqua is currently working to remove trees along the levee per Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) request to perform proper inspections of the levee. It is a necessity that ODNR be able to view the banks from top to bottom for seepage. As it stands currently, the banks are not clear enough for ODNR to perform their inspection. Our Water Division, Public Works Department, and Underground Utilities Division are currently clearing the levee and will continue through the first of the year performing cleanup of the entire levee and removal of tree stumps. Once the ground freezes we will be able to bring in the appropriate equipment to finish clean up. After clean up is finished a ground cover will be established for the levee slopes.
