The City of Piqua Development Department is pleased to announce the kick-off of an important community planning project dubbed CodePIQUA.
The CodePIQUA project stems from a Plan It Piqua Comprehensive Plan recommendation to update the current zoning and subdivision regulations. The purpose of the project is to put into place development standards that will promote neighborhood qualities that enhance existing developments and create a sense of a place; and, to establish a thoroughfare plan that includes context sensitive standards for public right of way use and improvements.
CodePIQUA will build upon the findings of prior planning exercises and engage community stakeholders as part of a planning process that will ensure local values and preferences are reflected in the finished work. Citizens are invited to attend the CodePIQUA public kick-off meeting scheduled to take place at 6:00PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. The meeting will be held in the Commission Chambers located on the 2nd floor of the City of Piqua Municipal Government Complex, 201 W. Water Street, Piqua, Ohio.
Code Studio, the consultant engaged to provide the services necessary to complete this project, will facilitate the meeting. Code Studio is a recognized leader in preparing codes that promote community values and generate desirable development outcomes. Assisting Code Studio with the project will be Nelson/Nygaard, a leader in developing transportation systems that promote broader community goals of mobility, equality, economic development, and healthy living; and, Gamble Associates, an architecture and urban design firm that focuses on community redevelopment and neighborhood revitalization.
