Posted on: October 31st, 2018 No Comments

The 3rd Annual Downtown Piqua Holiday Horse Parade will be returning on Saturday, November 10 with the parade kicking off at 7 p.m.  The parade will include horse-drawn carriages, hitches and riders, all outfitted with holiday lights, making their way through downtown Piqua.

The parade is being put together by Mainstreet Piqua under the direction of volunteer Tim Hutton. “We have had an amazing response to this event” says Lorna Swisher, director of Mainstreet Piqua. “We will have horse drill teams, numerous carriages and hitches represented.” says Swisher.

The downtown Piqua Holiday Horse parade will begin at Main and Greene Streets and will proceed west on Greene Street to Downing, south on Downing to High, East on High to Main and then North on Main to Greene Street. There will be an announcer’s stand at the intersection of Main and Ash Streets.

In addition to the usual offerings of downtown Piqua restaurants there will be a couple of other food options available during the horse parade.  Dobo’s Delights Bakery will be offering authentic and delicious cabbage rolls with mashed potatoes and hot dogs with homemade buns available for carryout in the bakery at 417 N. Main Street and Cumberland Kettle Corn will be located in the quad next to 311 Draft House.  Cumberland has a couple of different kinds of kettlecorn and popcorn. Chef James with Mulligan’s Pub will be offering hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill next to Mulligan’s.

Portable restroom facilities will be located in the south end of Canal Place and between Readmore’s Hallmark and Glamour on Mane in the 400 block of N. Main Street.

The Downtown Piqua Holiday Horse parade is being sponsored by Tim Hutton’s Prestige Builders, Unity National Bank, Miami County Visitors & Convention Bureau, Alvetro Orthodontics, Premiere Health, Buffalo Wings & Rings, Family Farm and Home, Best One Tire and Service, Asher’s Plumbing, Sunset Drive Thru and Kettering Health Network.
