PIQUA, OHIO – The Roadside Attractions film, ”The Last Full Measure,” written and directed by Todd Robinson, and starring Sebastian Stan, Oscar® winner Christopher Plummer, and Oscar winner William Hurt with Oscar nominee Ed Harris and Oscar nominee Samuel L. Jackson will open in William H. Pitsenbarger’s hometown of Piqua, Ohio, with a special premier Thursday, January, 23, 2020.
The premier will feature a reception to be held at the Miami Valley Centre Mall, 987 East Ash Street, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The reception is open to the public and will include the veterans of Operation Abilene, representatives of the United States Air Force, United States Army, the filmmakers, and more.
The film will be screened at 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at Cinemark Cinemas, 1020 Garbry Road. A Q&A with the writer & director Todd Robinson, producers and veterans of Abilene will follow each screening. Thanks to a generous contribution from Hartzell Propeller in Piqua, a limited number of tickets will be available to veterans at no charge. A third screening will be open to the public with tickets available through the Cinemark box office.
Tickets for veterans will be available, beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, January 17, at the Piqua Board of Education offices located at 215 Looney Road. Veterans may receive a ticket for themselves and one guest. Ticket availability is on a first-come basis.
William H. Pitsenbarger was a United States Air Force Pararescueman who flew nearly 300 missions to rescue soldiers and downed pilots during the Vietnam War. Pitsenbarger was killed on April 11, 1966 in one of the bloodiest battles of the war while rendering aid and saving the lives of nine soldiers of the U.S. Army’s 1st Infantry Division during a firefight. Three decades later, A1C Pitsenbarger was awarded our nation’s highest award, the Medal of Honor for his actions.The film chronicles the 34 year battle to see that “Pits” receive the Medal he had earned.
